My Favorite Bible Verses

brendapayangarcia

Whenever I am going through a hard time or moments of overwhelming anxiety, worry, anger or fear, I pray or read some of these verses to calm me down and get into a mindset of gratitude and peace.

One of the local churches in Zapopan, Col. Santa Margarita where my family is from.

Psalms 23

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the hous eof the Lord forever."

Philippians 4:6-7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

A prayer at the statute of the Virgencita that I normally go pray to in Long Beach.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.

They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."

Psalms 34:4

"I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from my fears."

The Virgencita statue I normally pray to surrounded by flowers. This was around the time of her birthday.

Matthew 6:25-34

"'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body on your clothes? ...

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

Each day has enough trouble of its own.'"

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Isaiah 41:10

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Another image of the Virgencita I normally pray to in Long Beach. I love how she faces the beach/ocean.

Exodus 14:14

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still."

Psalms 37:4

"Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

1 Peter 1:6-7 (ESV)

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
